Frequently asked questions
How the fees, credits, and payouts actually work.
No. Creating your account, building your event, and publishing it are all free, no card required. A card only comes into it if you buy a credit pack for a free event; connecting Stripe is how you receive payouts, not a charge to you.
Each registration uses one credit from your balance. Setup milestones (verifying your email, finishing your profile, a first entry, a first vote) earn you up to 50 free credits before you spend anything. Buy a pack when you need more; bigger packs cost less per credit.
That's your choice, per event. By default the fees are passed on at checkout: registrants pay your set price plus the 10% platform fee and card processing, and you receive the full price you set. Or absorb the fees instead, so registrants pay exactly your set price and the fees come out before your payout.
That's the whole platform fee: no setup fee, no monthly fee, no volume tiers, no per-feature add-ons. Stripe's processing fee (2.9% + $0.30 per transaction) is separate and set by Stripe. Free events don't pay a percentage at all; they use credits.
There's nothing to cancel. No subscription, no contract, no monthly bill: if you stop running events, you stop paying.
Registration on your free events pauses, and anyone trying to sign up sees a plain "registration is temporarily paused" message, never a fake "we're processing your spot." Add credits and it reopens on its own. Turn on auto-reload and it never pauses in the first place.
When someone pays to register, Placrd keeps a flat 10% and the rest is yours. Stripe splits it automatically at checkout, so there's nothing for you to reconcile, and paid events never touch your credit balance.
Stripe deposits your payout 2 to 7 business days after the event ends. You don't have to request it; it just lands in your account.
You set the refund policy on each event: full, partial, or none, with an optional cutoff (the default is a full refund up to 7 days before the event). Before voting opens, a refund makes the registrant whole, including the Placrd platform fee, which we give back. Stripe keeps its processing fee on any refund, so that cost stays with you. Once voting opens, the platform fee is no longer refundable. Registrants don't refund themselves; you issue a refund from the registration page.
Pick a credit pack and a balance to watch. When you drop below it, we buy that pack for you automatically, so registration never gets held up. Save a card once and you can stop thinking about it.
No. They can enter as a guest with just their name and email, no password, no app to install. If they create an account later with that same email, their entries link up automatically.
Neither. They scan the QR code on a placard and vote right in their phone's browser. No app, no account, no charge, ever.
No catch, and nothing held back. One plan includes everything: unlimited events, QR voting, live leaderboards, placards, Stripe payouts, analytics, and custom branding. There's no "Pro" tier because there's nothing to upsell you.
